Brainschool vs a video course
A course is a shelf of lessons. It has no idea which of them your child needs, or whether the one they just watched landed.
Side by side
| Brainschool | Video course | |
|---|---|---|
| Adapts to what this child already knows | ✓ | — |
| Checks that the child can do it, not just watch it | ✓ | ~ |
| Skips what is already mastered | ✓ | — |
| Spaces repetition so it is not forgotten | ✓ | — |
| Shows a parent where the child is stuck | ✓ | — |
The honest answer
Video is good at first exposure to an idea and bad at everything after it. Watching is not practising: the child who watches a course and the child who works through checked exercises look identical until the test. Use video for the explanation if it suits your child, and something that marks their work for the other 80% of the time.
